The Allan Labor Government and the Transport Accident Commission (TAC) are supporting severely injured Victorians and people with a disability through a new round of grants.
Minister for WorkSafe and the TAC Danny Pearson today visited All Things Equal, a cafe and social enterprise in Balaclava which will receive $50,000 to deliver a pilot pre-employment program for Victorians with disability looking to work in hospitality.
Entering a hospitality workplace can be particularly challenging for people with a disability, with staff required to manage a range of social and technical skills under significant time pressure. All Things Equal will design a program to bridge the gap between vocational service providers and hospitality workplaces.
All Things Equal will share lessons from its pilot program with the TAC and the hospitality sector, improving the workplace experience for people living with a disability right across the state.
The TAC Small Grants Program offers funding of up to $50,000 to innovative community-based projects that make a positive change in the lives of Victorians impacted by transport accidents and living with a disability.
The program invites organisations and individuals to apply for funding for projects that improve health and wellbeing, social and community connectedness and participation, independent living, safety and resilience.
This round of grants is also supporting the production of a short film by Back to Back Theatre Inc that uses the skills of people with a disability. A public viewing of the film will be held at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image and throughout Geelong Design Week.
The Sonicrats will receive a grant to put on music-making workshops that help people with a disability express themselves creatively - regardless of physical limitations.
