Surf Coast Shire Councillors Declared

Victorian Electoral Commission officials have declared the results of Surf Coast Shire Council's 2024 election.

Voting was carried out during October following a restructure of the shire into three wards, with the following candidates elected:

Otway Range Ward

  • Libby Stapleton, returned
  • Leon Walker, new
  • Mike Bodsworth, returned

Torquay Ward

  • Liz Pattison, returned
  • Rebecca Bourke, new
  • Paul Barker, returned

Winchelsea Ward

  • Joel Grist, new
  • Tony Phelps, new
  • Adrian Schonfelder, returned

Officials declared the results in Council's chambers at 11am on Friday.

Councillors will be sworn in during a ceremony at 6pm on Monday, 11 November.

The swearing-in ceremony will be closed to the general public but people will be welcome to attend election of the mayor and deputy mayor, at 5.30pm on Thursday 14 November in Council's chambers, 1 Merrijig Drive, Torquay.

Surf Coast Shire Council Chief Executive Officer Robyn Seymour: "We warmly congratulate our councillors elect and thank them for their commitment to sharing their time, energy and insights serving our wonderful Surf Coast Shire community across the next four years.

"Following swearing-in and induction during the next two weeks, the first meeting of the new Council will be on 26 November.

"As we welcome the new Council, I thank and commend outgoing councillors Rose Hodge, Gary Allen, Heather Wellington and Kate Gazzard for their great dedication to, and service for our community."
