At the Council meeting on 19 November 2024, councillors requested a report at the earliest convenience with a view to provide access to Maloneys beach to the immediate west of the existing toilet block.
This decision means the sandstone blocks preventing access to the Council's reserve, the national park's foreshore, and the beach, should remain in place.
However, since then, unidentified individuals have repeatedly and illegally moved the sandstone blocks. This resulted in unauthorised access to the areas, the potential for safety incidents, the blocks being put in dangerous locations, and anti-social behaviour among community members. NSW Police have had to attend.
Council has been considering the situation and have consulted with the National Parks and Wildlife Service. Surveillance cameras will be installed and the sandstone blocks will be placed back into position.
Council recognises the community has differing views on vehicle access to the reserve and the beach, and request that members of the community behave in a respectful manner.
