As part of the government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, schools are being surveyed about their needs and interest in Outside of School Hours Care (OSHC).
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said we know how important it is for families and young people to access care outside of school hours when and where they need it.
"OSHC services are already available at more than half of the primary and district schools in Tasmania, providing many families with the care they need for children aged between 5 and 12," Minister Palmer said.
"The survey is being undertaken as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future to identify opportunities for expansion at schools that don't currently have out of hours care available."
The initial survey, designed for completion by schools, will serve as a preliminary scan of current capacities and interests.
This survey will form the basis for more detailed engagements with families and communities, ensuring the expansion aligns with the needs and expectations of the community.
A comprehensive property audit is also being conducted to identify government land that could be used for the expansion of Early Childhood and Care services, as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future.
