Suspect Sought Over City Assault

Police are investigating a serious assault in the city last week and have release a CCTV image of the suspect.

About 11.45am on Thursday 20 June, a man was walking along the riverbank behind Festival Theatre near the base of the amphitheatre area. An unknown man approached the victim and punched him multiple times to the head causing him to fall to the ground.

The suspect has then proceeded to kick the victim while he was on the ground.

The suspect ran from the area heading west along the river.

The victim, a 68-year-old man, was taken to hospital where he was treated for serious injuries.

The suspect is described as being a Caucasian man with an olive complexion and clean shaven. He was wearing a cap, reflective sunglasses, a white long sleeve shirt, a red vest (he put on a black jacket), blue jeans and white sneakers. He was carrying a black duffle bag and a black Bible.
