Suspicious Fire in Homebush, Motorists Avoid Area

Emergency services are currently on scene at a building fire in Sydney's south-west.

About 2pm today (Monday 8 July 2024), emergency services responded to reports of a building fire on the corner of Parramatta Road and Knight Street, Homebush.

Fire and Rescue NSW are presently responsible for the fire ground.

Parramatta Road west bound is open with one lane eastbound closed. Major traffic delays are being experienced and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

Officers from Auburn Police Area Command are treating the fire as suspicious and investigating reports that a group of teenagers were seen running from the scene shortly before the fire started.

As inquiries continue anyone who may have information about the matter – or were in the area at the time with any available dashcam/mobile phone footage – are asked to contact Auburn Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
