Suspicious unit fire at Christies Beach, South Australia

Police are investigating a suspicious unit fire at Christies Beach overnight.

Police and fire crews responded to reports of a unit fire in Davis Avenue, Christies Beach at 3.30am on Monday 19 September.

The fire completely destroyed one unit and spread to the adjoining unit on each side, causing significant damage to both units.

The fire was extinguished by MFS crews and Forensic Response officers attended to examine the scene.

The occupant of the middle unit sustained minor burns. There were no other reported injuries.

The 72-year-old Christies Beach man was taken to the Flinders Medical Centre for treatment.

He is currently speaking with Southern District CIB detectives and is expected to be arrested and charged with arson this morning.

It is anticipated that he will face the Christies Beach Magistrates Court tomorrow, Tuesday 20 September.
