Sustainability Victoria has concluded its long-standing partnership with Swan Hill Rural City Council regarding the free paint drop-off service, effective August 8, 2024.

Council's Acting Director Infrastructure, Laura O'Dwyer said as a result Council can no longer accept unused liquid paint at any of its landfill and transfer station sites.

"In light of this change, residents are advised that unused liquid paint cannot be disposed of through the waste system. However, solid paint in cans can continue to be placed in the waste system as per current guidelines," Ms O'Dwyer said.

Ms O'Dwyer said Council recognised the importance of responsible paint disposal and is actively engaging with a company to explore opportunities for maintaining a free paint disposal service.

"We appreciate the community's understanding and cooperation as we work to establish a new, effective program for paint disposal".

"Once the new service arrangements are finalised, we will make a further announcement – please stay tuned," Ms O'Dwyer said.
