The Swan Hill Regional Library is making a film to commemorate 75th Anniversary of the end of World War Two (WWII) and generate greater awareness about WWII history.
Swan Hill Regional Libraries Manager, Camille Cullinan said the library was currently seeking items to include in an online exhibition to complement the project.
"We are planning to have a virtual exhibition of WW2 memorabilia and artifacts which will be launched on August 31 at 7 pm.
"The launch will include a talk with author of A Rat of Tobruk: A Diggers Lost Images of the Siege, Mike Rosel.
"His book contains excerpts from letters written by Harry Frazer, a former Swan Hill resident," she said.
Ms Cullinan said the library is calling on the community to bring in any World War Two memorabilia, war records, documents, photographs, postcards & letters written to loved ones whilst overseas.
"These items won't be kept at the library, only recorded – people can also choose to submit good quality images of their items along with a detailed description if they prefer not to bring the items in person.
"We would like to hear from anyone with local WWII history.
"Those who contribute items have the option of remain completely anonymous," she added.
Ms Cullinan said a trailer for the documentary-style film to honor men and women from our municipality who participated in World War Two will be included in the launch of the exhibition.
"The Swan Hill Remembers film will then be available on the library's Youtube channel, people can also choose to order a copy of the DVD to purchase," she said.
Information for the project is being gathered by the library and members of the project steering committee along with the Swan Hill Genealogical & Historical Society, the Swan Hill and Woorinen RSL, the Lake Boga Lions Club, Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum and the Swan Hill Guardian.
