Sydney CBD SUV-Taxi Incident: Man Charged by NSW Police

A man will appear in court today after being charged following an alleged crash in Sydney's CBD last month.

About 8.10pm on Tuesday 4 June 2024, emergency services were called to George Street, Sydney, following reports an SUV and taxi had collided, before the SUV was pushed across tram lines.

The driver of the taxi was assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and did not require further treatment.

Officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command located a 39-year-old man on Hickson Road, The Rocks, before he was taken to hospital for a blood and urine test.

About 9am today (Monday 1 July 2024), the 39-year-old man was arrested at a home in Kellyville and taken to Day Street Police Station.

He was charged with drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous, disobey no right turn sign, drive in tram lane, negligent driving, not give particulars to other driver.

He was refused bail to appear before Downing Centre Local Court today (Monday July 1 2024).
