Sydney CBD Thief Disguised, Charged With Nine Offences

A man has been charged with nine offences after an alleged stealing at a hotel in Sydney.

About 5am on Wednesday 8 May 2024, officers attached to Sydney City Police Area Command commenced an investigation following reports a man had entered a hotel on Sussex Street, Sydney, and stolen six televisions while disguised in a wig.

Following extensive inquiries, police executed a search warrant at a home in Blaxland about 9.30am yesterday (Thursday 20 June 2024) where police allegedly seized stolen property and a "Gel Blaster".

A short time later, police stopped a vehicle in Berkeley Vale and arrested the driver – a 37-year-old man – before allegedly finding prohibited drugs, clothing and wigs in the vehicle.

The man was taken to Wyong police station and charged with the following offences:

  • Enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Face blackened/disguised with intent to commit indictable offence
  • Commit Section 114 offence, having previous conviction
  • Dispose of stolen property
  • Drive motor vehicle during disqualification period
  • Possess prohibited drug – three counts
  • Goods in personal custody suspected being stolen

He was refused bail to appear before Wyong Local Court tomorrow (Friday 21 June 2024).
