A Sydney man's long-held belief that he would win big one day has finally paid off as he woke up this morning to the news that he is now a multi-millionaire.
He was the sole winner of last night's Oz Lotto draw, taking home the entire $3 million jackpot from the draw on Tuesday, 16 April 2024.
The fortunate winner from the Inner Sydney area was unaware of his win until this morning when he received a call from a lotto official confirming his status as the only division one winner.
“Oh my god!” he exclaimed.
“I won it all? By myself?
“I can’t believe it! I was the only division one winner?!
“You know, I had a feeling so I just kept playing.
“I’ve always had a firm belief I was going to win one day. I’ve been having sort of ESP visions – so I kept using my little wins to buy the next ticket.
“I thought, ‘as long as I keep winning something, I’ll keep reinvesting it into the next ticket’.
“It’s so lucky I did random numbers. I was thinking about sticking to the same numbers, but then I thought it was best to stick to random numbers so that’s why I got QuickPicks.
“I’ve always told myself, if I win the lottery, I have my children at the top of my list. This will be an enormous help to my family.
“It’s amazing! Thank you!”
The man’s winning 50-game QuickPick was purchased at Queens Square Newsagency, 229 Macquarie Street, Sydney.
Queens Square Newsagency owner Peter Wang said he was excited to have sold another division one winning ticket.
“That lucky ticket was sold from own hands!” he said.
“I’ve been selling lottery tickets for more than 20 years and I’m happy to have helped changed my winning customers’ lives.
“I wish this winner all the very best with their prize.”
The winning numbers in Oz Lotto draw 1574 on Tuesday 16 April 2024 were 17, 12, 28, 21, 13, 33 and 32, while the supplementary numbers were 22, 9 and 7.
Across Australia, there was one division one winning entry in Oz Lotto draw 1574 – the entry from New South Wales.
