New playgrounds, refurbished classrooms and state-of-the-art buildings are on the way for three Sydney schools after $290 million of upgrades were approved by the NSW Government.
Works valued at $250 million have been approved for Chatswood's public and high schools, while an upgrade of Darlington Public School worth more than $40 million will provide the best learning facilities for teachers, staff and students.
Minister for Education and Early Childhood Learning Sarah Mitchell said the school upgrades will transform the teaching and learning experiences for students and staff.
"Upgrades to Chatswood Public School will include up to 53 classrooms with special programs and support classrooms while Chatswood High School will include up to 123 classrooms with special support classrooms," Ms Mitchell said.
"Darlington will benefit from 19 teaching spaces, a special programs room, canteen and a library."
Minister for Planning and Public Spaces Rob Stokes said the projects would provide world-class education facilities while aiding the State's economic recovery.
"These approvals are among hundreds of projects we're driving through the planning system to create thousands of jobs and boost our economic recovery," Mr Stokes said.
"The school projects in Chatswood alone will deliver 266 jobs during construction."
The Chatswood and Darlington projects are part of the historic $7 billion investment over the next four years, continuing the program to deliver 200 new and upgraded schools to support communities right across NSW.
