Seven Sydney neighbourhoods will host free one-day celebrations this spring to showcase the best local venues, businesses and products.
Sydney Streets returns with high streets pedestrianised and transformed with festival vibes, live music, roaming entertainment, daytime kids' activities and alfresco dining.
The hugely popular series is an opportunity for locals and visitors to explore and enjoy some of Sydney's most vibrant neighbourhoods including Haymarket, Potts Point, Glebe, Darlinghurst, Surry Hills, Pyrmont and Redfern.
"We started these neighbourhood celebrations to help local communities get back on their feet after the pandemic, and they've become more and more popular," Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore AO said.
"Sydney Streets gives a boost to local businesses and helps create thriving and connected communities.
"After a cold winter, it will be wonderful to see our neighbourhoods bursting with people, entertainment, music and fun during our spring series of Sydney Streets festivals."
The spring Sydney Streets series includes:
Haymarket – Hay Street, Saturday 21 September
The series kick-off event will include a mahjong pop-up from Soul of Chinatown, dance battles and DJ from Dancekool and ice cream specials from newcomer Whisky Gelato.
Potts Point – Macleay Street, Saturday 28 September
Popular venues The Roosevelt and Bloody Marys Gazebo will set up pop-up bars, while The Chocolate Box and Penny's Cheese Shop will offer a variety of specials for the day. Stop by the Potts Point General Practice for a free blood pressure check.
Glebe – Glebe Point Road, Saturday 12 October
Local eateries Kandy by Sri Lankan Bites, Fana's Italian Kitchen and Banh Mi Dee will set up alfresco food stalls. There will be Latin dance performances, live music and food and drink specials at Dispensary 1908 Café and Bar, and Blue & Blue will be running tie-dye workshops throughout the day.
Darlinghurst – Stanley Street, Saturday 19 October
As well as pop-up bars from The Long Goodbye and Verde Restaurant, there will be a range of Italian bites on offer from Funkatello and Bill and Toni's. Harry's by Giuls and the Lord Roberts Hotel will have live music performances during the day and into the evening.
Surry Hills – Crown Street, Saturday 2 November
A DJ and kids games will be on offer at YO-CHI, as well as live music and a pop-up bar from Tucano's. Central to Health Chiropractic will be offering free spinal screenings and Masala Theory take to the street with their food stall.
Pyrmont – Harris Street, Saturday 9 November
Pop along to the reading corner set up by Ultimo Public School's Parents and Citizens Association, or join a Zumba class from Zumba by Zarala. There will be outdoor dining at the Quarryman's Hotel and Dunkirk Hotel, as well as a pop-up bar from Elements Bar and Grill.
Redfern – Redfern Street, Saturday 16 November
Choose from a variety of food stalls including Wokman Redfern and Sweet Monster. Local pub The Redfern will host a DJ and alfresco pop-up bar, and Hustle & Flow Bar will offer a 'paint your favourite rapper' workshop.
Each event runs from 11am to 10pm, with surrounding streets closed to traffic from 9am to 11:30pm. Special event clearways will also be in place. Visit livetraffic.com for full road and traffic details.
