- Eight not-for-profit community organisations will each receive up to $10,000
- Funds distributed to groups making a positive impact on people and the environment
The Cook Government, through Synergy's Community Giving Fund, is proud to provide grants to local charities and not-for-profit community organisations making a difference.
Eight local organisations will each receive up to $10,000 to help deliver programs that support vulnerable members of the community and boost social inclusion.
The aim of the fund is to empower local communities. All the recipients make a positive impact on people and the environment in Synergy's area of operation from Kalbarri in the north, east to Kalgoorlie and south to Albany.
The Synergy Community Giving Fund has awarded about $140,000 to local organisations making a difference since it launched last year.
As stated by Energy Minister Bill Johnston:
"I'm pleased that not-for-profit organisations will receive a boost to make a real and tangible difference through the Synergy Community Giving Fund.
"The beneficiaries from this year's fund include at-risk youth, people living with a disability, women and children dealing with domestic violence issues and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
"The Community Giving Fund is one of the many ways Synergy is helping WA achieve an inclusive, connected and sustainable future."
As stated by Riverton MLA Jagadish (Jags) Krishnan:
"The Synergy Community Giving Fund helps organisations that are delivering grassroot programs with positive outcomes.
"For example, Zonta House Refuge Association in my electorate will use their grant to provide a physical and mental health activities program for women to recover and rebuild their lives.
"I'm proud to be part of a government that supports those most in need and organisations making a meaningful impact on the community."
