Playing an Olympic sport for free is proving to be a big hit with Scenic Rim locals, including those living with a disability.
A popular new table tennis group has bounced into the Carinity Fassifern Community Centre in Boonah.
The group meets every Friday afternoon and welcomes beginners and more advanced players of the game.
Sharon Wallace from Aratula, who runs the table tennis group with Rob Wigginton, says the sport is great for exercise, coordination and stamina.
"It's something young people, older people and those with a disability can enjoy. We teach them to play table tennis, but they also develop social skills, learn teamwork and make social connections," Sharon said.
"We have two younger people with disabilities who we teach every Friday. It's good to have somewhere where they can learn to play.
"These two 17-year-olds we're teaching are now great mates who enjoy playing together as a team against us older players."
The table tennis group is held at the Carinity Fassifern Community Centre, 4 Little High Street, Boonah each Friday from 1.30pm to 3pm.
