Tablelands Property Crimes: 10 Youths Charged

Detectives from the Tablelands Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) charged an additional two people with property offences on February 17.

It will be alleged at around 4pm on Monday February 16, a woman exited a running Nissan Dualis on Lloyd Street, when an 18-year-old man entered driver's seat.

A teenager was able to exit the backseat of the vehicle before the man drove away.

No one was physically injured.

Police further allege the vehicle was later involved in multiple fuel drive offs and other offences in the Mareeba, Kuranda, Atherton, Craiglea and Cairns areas.

At around 4pm yesterday February 18, both men were located in bushland at Kuranda after the vehicle was subjected to a tyre deflation device.

An 18-year-old Dimbulah man was charged with two counts each of stealing, breach of bail condition, enter dwelling with intent by break, and one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle, evasion, and driving without a driver licence.

He was refused bail and was due to re-appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on March 10.
