Tackling LBQ Women Violence, Discrimination in Europe

CoE/Parliamentary Assembly

A conference co-organised by the Parliamentary Assembly's Parliamentary Platform for the rights of LGBTI people and the Council of Europe's SOGIESC Unit has focused on the invisibility of LBQ women, and the challenges they face from lesbophobia, which can lead to them suffering from violence and discrimination. The event, which identified solutions to protect their rights and dignity, formed part of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (25 November to 10 December) and was attended by parliamentarians, experts and activists. Among the keynote speakers were PACE Secretary General, Despina Chatzivassiliou-Tsovilis, PACE General Rapporteur for the rights of LGBTI people, Béatrice Fresko-Rolfo (Monaco, ALDE), Council of Europe Commissioner for Human rights, Michael O'Flaherty and Executive Director and Founder UK Black Pride, Lady Phyll.
