Tactical Crime Squad officers have arrested 36 people on 116 charges including drug and weapon offences, following a week of targeted action in Fortitude Valley.
Officers also conducted a number of proactive engagements in addition to the execution of a number of search warrants since Monday November 11, bolstering the high visibility presence of police in the community.
Around 7.15pm on November 15, officers observed a man loitering beside a BMW sedan in an underground car park along Wickham Street. Officers allege this same vehicle evaded police in Spring Hill the previous day.
Officers approached the vehicle when it is alleged the man entered the vehicle and attempted to accelerate away, however was apprehended and placed under arrest where drugs, drug paraphernalia and weapons were located inside the vehicle.
The 35-year-old Geebung man has been charged with five counts of possessing dangerous drugs, two counts of possessing dangerous drugs over schedule, two counts of unlawfully possessing schedule four medicines, one count of possessing things connected with a drug offence, two counts of possessing a weapons being a handgun and a baton, one count of unlawfully possessing explosives (ammunition) and one count each obstructing police, evade police, driving unlicensed, and attaching false registration plates.
He was denied police bail and will reappear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 9, 2024.
In a separate incident at 8.20pm on November 18, officers arrested a man on St Pauls Terrace who is alleged to have been carrying a knife.
The 41-year-old Brisbane man has been charged with one count of serious assault of police whilst armed, possession of a knife in public place and obstructing police.
He has been denied police bail and will reappear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on December 9, 2024.
