Tasmanian businesses will have increased opportunity to market goods and services to the world following the release of the new Tasmanian Trade Annual Action Plan for 2024-25.
Premier and Minister for Trade and Major Investment, Jeremy Rockliff, said the Action Plan serves as a blueprint for supporting Tasmanian businesses and associations in their export endeavours, both domestically and internationally.
"Our Liberal Government has committed $1.6 million as part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's future to ensure our exporters get the support they need to grow and enter key markets," Premier Rockliff said.
"International exports are worth almost $6 billion a year to the local economy, and we have set the bold target of reaching $15 billion a year by 2050.
"We will deliver this through a coordinated approach across government, industries and businesses, delivering new opportunities, keeping our economy strong and creating jobs.
"It is important we continue to build on the work we've done to take Tasmania to the world with international missions and events, and through this plan we will be bringing the world to Tasmania with our Inbound Trade Mission program.
"The Action Plan includes a new two-year, $600,000 program to bring international buyers, investors and distributors to the State so they can see where our quality Tasmanian products come from.
"Details of these inbound missions will be finalised across the year and Tasmanian businesses will be given the opportunity to show off their products to buyers.
"Another key element of our plan will enable even more exporters to take their Tasmanian products to the world and build Tasmania's trade capability through an Export Ready Program.
"As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we're opening up more opportunities to Tasmanian businesses from across as many sectors as possible to support our economy, boost our reputation and create jobs."
