Taskforce Saturate Charged 53 People

During the month of September, Taskforce Saturate focussed its efforts to target individuals who failed to appear in court and those who breach bail conditions.

"During the targeted campaign, the taskforce laid a total of 199 charges against 53 people, demonstrating its commitment to holding repeat offenders accountable," Inspector John Toohey said.

"Charges included 24 individuals arrested on outstanding warrants and 45 charges for breaching bail conditions."

"In addition to this, other offences identified included 71 counts of stealing, drug offences, aggravated evade, unlicensed driving, breach of a parole board warrant, possess a firearm without a licence, common assault, assault police, unlawfully possess a dangerous article, breach of a Police Family Violence Order and computer related fraud."

"These results underscore our dedication to community safety, by focusing on those who disregard court appearances and violate bail conditions."

"We know that a small number of individuals are responsible for a disproportionate amount of crime. The taskforce's targeted efforts have proven successful in apprehending these repeat offenders."

"Our community deserves to feel safe at home, out in public and in their workplaces."

"We will continue to target criminal behaviour and where appropriate, necessary and authorised by law, we will be charging those who offend, and putting them before a Magistrate."
