The Tasmanian Government has been provided with a revised Commonwealth funding offer for Government schools in Tasmania, following other States signing up to the Better and Fairer Schools Agreement (BFSA).
The Tasmanian Government signed the BFSA in September 2024, which included a clause to ensure Tasmania would be no worse off if other States struck a better deal.
The Commonwealth has now increased its funding offer to 25 per cent of the Schooling Resourcing Standard for Government schools over a 10-year period.
Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, said Tasmania will now benefit from this increased offer.
"I've spoken with Federal Minister for Education, Jason Clare, who has written to me with a revised offer, which is in line with other States," Minister Palmer said.
"By signing our bilateral agreement with the Commonwealth last year, we were able to access funding earlier, while ensuring Tasmania would be no worse off if other States got a better deal.
"As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are growing our investment in education to record levels."
