Police are investigating the attempted burglary of a petrol station in Cambridge Street, West Launceston overnight.
Initial inquiries indicate an offender tried to gain entry into the premises shortly before 5am.
They were unsuccessful, but significant damage was caused.
The offender was reportedly in a stolen vehicle - a 2005 Mazda Bravo ute - and investigations are ongoing.
