Tasmanian Business Seals Export Deal

A Tasmanian business has secured a significant export deal on the back of attending the Government's trade mission to Singapore and Indonesia.

Minister for Small Business, Trade and Consumer Affairs, Guy Barnett, said a team of around 20 delegates attended the mission.

"Our trade mission has already delivered a significant result for Tas Quality Meats, with a four-tonne export deal into Singapore secured for the business," Minister Barnett said.

"We are helping to grow Tasmania's economy, support businesses and create jobs by taking Tasmania's products to the world.

"After facing challenges because of the conflict in UAE, TQM pivoted by pursuing new market opportunities.

"TQM had previously relied on overseas Australian traders and brokering companies, but as a result of this mission found that you can't beat being on the ground meeting face-to-face to deliver brand awareness outcomes.

"Tasmania's premium food and beverage was on the centre stage at Food and Hospitality Asia 2026.

"There was a strong Tasmanian presence which attracted significant interest from buyers and industry.

"From paddock to plate, Tasmania continues to stand out globally for quality, provenance and sustainability."

Matt Lang, TQM's Managing Director, said this was his first time on mission and at the trade stand.

"It's a great way to engage directly with buyers. I would definitely do it again," Mr Lang said.

"Being on the ground like this is critical, it helps grow a market presence, build new client relationships, and sustain long-term partnerships.

"We wouldn't have been able to do this as effectively without the support of Trade Tasmania and the Government - it's what made it possible to find new opportunities, particularly in a challenging global environment following recent conflicts.
"It really comes down to having a strong team behind you. With that support, we've been able to lead, adapt and open up new options for our business."

This mission was about backing Tasmanian jobs, supporting our exporters and building the partnerships we need for the future.

Fuel security and supply chain resilience meetings were prioritised as part of the trade mission following the conflict and uncertainty overseas.

"We strongly advocated for Team Tasmania, ensuring we have continue to work with key stakeholders to deliver for Tasmania," Minister Barnett said.

"This trade mission has delivered real results for Tasmania and has strengthened our position as a trusted partner for trade and investment, tourism, and enhanced our energy security as a result of this mission."
