The Tasmanian Government is continuing its commitment to improve the health and wellbeing of Tasmanians by releasing the first Implementation Plan for the Tasmanian Drug Strategy 2024-29.
Minister for Mental Health and Wellbeing, Roger Jaensch, said the Government recognises alcohol, tobacco and other drug use is a health issue and can affect many Tasmanians.
"The Tasmanian Drug Strategy takes a health-focused approach to alcohol, tobacco and other drugs and provides a framework that will encourage collaborative action and activities across departments, organisations and the community," Minister Jaensch said.
"The Strategy's outlines a vision where Tasmania is inclusive and safe for all people, without stigma and discrimination and people can make informed health decisions.
"The Strategy is being delivered through several implementation plans which will outline specific actions across seven areas: Prevention, Intervention and treatment, Evidence base, alcohol, tobacco and e-cigarettes, pharmaceutical drugs and illicit drugs.
"Our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is about ensuring we take a preventative health approach, helping all Tasmanians to stay healthy for longer."
Implementation Plan One, released yesterday, covers the period from July 2024 to December 2025 and focuses on foundation work to support ongoing activities across the life of the Strategy.
