Tasmanian Gov't Tops in Backing Our Hospitals

Guy Barnett, Minister for Health

The Rockliff Liberal Government is appalled by Andrew Wilkie's call to close one of Tasmania's northern hospitals.

From the comfort of his office in central Hobart, Mr Wilkie has shown how out of touch he is with Tasmanians, especially those living in our regions.

Mr Wilkie was quoted saying: "I have argued for years that at least one of the hospitals in the North should be shut down and those resources redistributed to make sure that the hospitals we've got are properly resourced."

What a disgrace.

It will never happen under our watch.

While Mr Wilkie talks down our hospitals, this Government is investing $8 million a day into in the health system.

Our Government supports our hospitals, our health workforce and the Tasmanians who use these services every day.
