Men's Sheds are vital to the health and wellbeing of Tasmanian men, which is why they are strongly supported by the Rockliff Liberal Government.
Minister for Community Services and Development, Jo Palmer, said Tasmanian Men's Sheds are valuable community assets that provide a safe and supportive environment for men to meet and to seek support and advice on health and wellbeing issues.
"We are fortunate to have so many active Men's Sheds around the State, playing an important role in enhancing the lives of Tasmanian men," Minister Palmer said.
"They provide an important gathering place for men to make mates, connect with others, learn and share, all while working on projects that make an important contribution to our broader community.
"The Rockliff Liberal Government recognises the important role of the Tasmanian Men's Shed Association and, that is why in the 2023 State Budget we committed to provide $175,000 per annum to extend the Tasmanian Men's Shed Association Grants Program until 2025-26."
Tasmanian Men's Sheds that are either a member of the TMSA, or an organisation that operates as a Men's Shed and is able to demonstrate an alignment with the TMSA's values and vision are invited to apply to the 2023-24 Tasmanian Men's Shed Association Grants Program.
A maximum of $25,000 will be available to applicants across two categories, and applicants may apply for one or both categories.
Category one is grants of up to $7,000 for tools, equipment, mental health and wellbeing initiatives, member training and community initiatives. Category two is grants of up to $20,000 for capital works.
"Over the past four years alone, the Grants Program has provided $593,380 to 117 initiatives," Minister Palmer said.
"This has included funding to purchase new equipment and tools, run men's health and wellbeing programs as well as investment in capital works projects."
Applications for the 2023-24 Tasmanian Men's Shed Association Grants Program close on 15 September 2023.
