A Montello Primary School teacher has been recognised for inspiring students to engage with science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Minister for Education, Jo Palmer, congratulated Daniel Edwards for being awarded a 2024 Prime Minister's Prize for Science.

"Mr Edwards' innovative teaching methods and unwavering dedication to his students have fostered a deep love for science and motivated students to think critically and creatively about the world around them," Minister Palmer said.

"This award is a testament to Mr Edwards' extraordinary commitment to enriching the education experiences of students at Montello Primary School.

"The Prime Minister's Prizes for Science are Australia's most prestigious and highly regarded science awards, celebrating scientists, innovators and primary and secondary school teachers who inspire students to engage in science, technology and mathematics.

"This award highlights not only the passion, commitment and expertise of Mr Edwards, but the quality of teaching that exists within our State education system.

"I look forward to seeing how Mr Edwards' passion and commitment to STEM education will continue to shape the lives of students."
