Tasmanian Wins Record $70M Oz Lotto Jackpot

The Lott

An emotional Tasmanian man discovered this morning that he's $70 million richer after his Oz Lotto ticket hit the jackpot last night, making him the state's biggest lottery winner ever.

The Apple Isle player held the only division one winning entry nationally in Oz Lotto draw 1633, drawn Tuesday 3 June 2025. He shares the title of the second-biggest Oz Lotto winner in the game's 31-year history.

The man purchased his winning marked 18-game entry online via one of The Lott's authorised resellers - Oz Lotteries.

We didn't have the winner's complete details and had been unable to contact the new multi-millionaire last night to break the life-changing news. At that stage, it was believed the winner heralded from Victoria.

However, the soon-to-be Tasmanian retiree had already logged into his account and discovered his good fortune.

"I have hardly slept all night. I was wondering if I was dreaming, and I was going to wake up and someone was going to say, it was all just a dream," he said.

Despite checking his good fortune, the winner still went to work this morning, doubting the win. Upon learning the full reality, he couldn't hide his excitement.

"Oh wow. I don't have to come to work anymore, it's minus one degrees here at the moment where I am working. I might just go and hand my resignation in right now," he said.

With a fresh $70 million windfall, the fortunate Tassie man plans to retire immediately, purchase a home with his partner and support his family.

"Buying a dream home with my partner and helping my family out. Oh, this is brilliant, absolutely brilliant…I've had a (rough) couple of years," he explained.

"I am just getting back on my feet, and I still have a mortgage when everyone else (my age) is about to retire. I have been saying I will have to work until I am 70, but not now."

The winning numbers in the Oz Lotto draw 1633 on Tuesday 3 June 2025 were 44, 34, 45, 1, 46, 25 and 21, while the supplementary numbers were 9, 14 and 16.
