Tasmanians surrendered 30 firearms and a quantity of ammunition as part of a mobile firearms amnesty drive across the state over the weekend.
"As part of a mobile firearms amnesty drive across the state over the weekend, Tasmanians surrendered firearms including shotguns and rifles, and a significant quantity of ammunition," said Assistant Commissioner Adrian Bodnar.
"Included in the surrendered firearms were 11 shotguns, 8 rifles, and 1 air rifle."
"In total, 30 firearms were surrendered to police over the weekend - that's 30 firearms out of our community that can no longer be stolen and used to commit crime or cause harm."

Saturday, 1 June:
- South: NUBEENA: 4 firearms (3 rifles and 1 shotgun)
- South: TRIABUNNA: Nil
- North: NEWNHAM: 4 firearms
- North: GEORGE TOWN: 1 firearm (registered pistol)
- West: SHEFFIELD: 7 firearms (4 rifles and 3 shotguns) and a quantity of ammunition
- West: FORTH: 3 firearms (1 rifle and 2 shotguns)
Sunday, 2 June:
- South: DUNALLEY: 2 firearms (1 air rifle and 1 shotgun)
- South: SWANSEA: Nil
- South: RICHMOND: Significant quantity of ammunition
- North: CAMPBELL TOWN: 1 firearm
- West: STOWPORT: 1 firearm (shotgun)
- West: SMITHTON: 3 firearms (3 shotguns)
Monday, 3 June:
- South: SORELL: 1 firearm (shotgun)
- South: BICHENO: 1 firearm (pistol)
- West: DEVONPORT: 2 firearms
"It's pleasing that Tasmanians took the opportunity over the weekend to surrender firearms and ammunition to police, to remove them from our community," said Assistant Commissioner Bodnar.
"Mobile firearms amnesties are one measure police use to reduce the number of firearms circulating, but it's important to remember that under Tasmania's permanent firearms amnesty, firearms can be surrendered to police at any time by phoning 131 444 and making arrangements."
