Tasmanian Government

Tasmania has recorded the highest annual wage growth in the nation, according to Australian Bureau of Statistics Wage Price Index (WPI) data released today.

Wage growth in Tasmania grew by 3.9 per cent during 2024, outpacing the national average of 3.2 per cent.

Minister for Finance, Roger Jaensch, said these figures represent a real difference for Tasmanian families.

"Tasmania has topped the charts, seeing the highest annual wage growth in the country in 2024. This is great news for Tasmanian workers," Minister Jaensch said.

"Our Government is focussed on economic growth by backing industry and key projects. This supports jobs and benefits Tasmanians across the State.

"Through our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future we're delivering positive outcomes for all Tasmanians.

"Our run of record low unemployment at 4.2 per cent or below continues, our retail trade is at an all-time high and Tasmanians are earning more than ever before."
