Visitors to Tasmania over summer surged to the highest number ever, according to the Tasmanian Visitor Survey, with results showing the state welcomed a whopping 453,600 visitors over the three-month period, up 7 per cent from last year.
Premier and Minister for Tourism Jeremy Rockliff said it was fantastic to see record numbers of visitors enjoying what the Tasmanian summer has to offer.
"The message is clear that Tasmania is a must-visit holiday destination, and our Government's investment in the tourism industry through the 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is delivering real benefits for Tasmanians," the Premier said.
"Between December 2024 and February 2025, visitors injected $1.37 billion into the Tasmanian economy, up more than $60m from summer last year."
Strategic and creative marketing campaigns help tell the Tasmanian story and inspire travellers to visit all corners of the State.
"Advertising for our long-standing 'Come Down for Air' campaign helps build meaningful visual connections with Australians and entice them to book a trip to enjoy our beautiful scenery, world-class food and beverage offerings and to experience it all for themselves," Premier Rockliff said.
"We recently launched the 'Off Season' campaign, encouraging Australians to embrace the cooler weather and become a winter person by enjoying one of the many unique experiences on offer, including cold-water dips, winter festivals and fireside chats and barrel-aged whiskey.
"Visitors inject $3.5 billion into Tasmania each year, supporting thousands of jobs across the state, and these results are a huge boost to local businesses and the locals they employ.
"As part of our 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future, we are growing our tourism sector, training the next generation of workers and backing in businesses."
