Tasmania's hospitality sector has shone brightly at the Australian Hotels Association National Awards for Excellence.

Minister for Hospitality and Small Business, Jane Howlett, congratulated the award-winning businesses and commended them for flying the flag for the State.

"Six Tasmanian businesses have claimed a total of seven awards at this year's event, which is the best result for Tasmania in the history of National Awards," Minister Howlett said.

"Congratulations to Tasmanian Wild Seafood Adventures, Beach Hotel, Claremont Hotel, The Tasman Hotel, Saffire Freycinet and Furneaux Restaurant on their success and to all those who were nominated for the important contributions they make to our economy.

"The success of these businesses sends a message to the rest of the country and the world that Tasmania is the place to visit.

"An important part of the Tasmanian Government's 2030 Strong Plan for Tasmania's Future is supporting industry to employ Tasmanians – we back industry and we back the jobs that our hospitality sector employs.

"Confidence in our tourism and hospitality sector is growing again and the Tasmanian Government will continue to support and talk up these businesses in Tasmania which are so important to our economy.

"Whether they are in Burnie, St Helens or Hobart, our small businesses provide experiences that keep people coming back for more.

"The success of our hospitality businesses is so important to the many families and other small businesses that rely on them and the thousands of jobs they support – and that's why we will always back the industry."
