The primary focus of the TEA Lab is examining AI-integrated medical decision-making, with emphasis on ethical principles such as respect for human autonomy, prevention of harm, fairness and explicability. In collaboration with the Z-Inspection® initiative-a holistic framework for assessing AI systems-the lab will analyze the socio-technical and ethical implications of AI across its development and use.

Initial projects will address challenges like AI paternalism and algorithmic bias in healthcare, with the goal of building trust and accountability in the use of AI. The insights gained will contribute to public education, academic research, and graduate programs, encouraging the responsible integration of AI in healthcare settings.
