Multinational teamwork was at the forefront for day one of Exercise Malabar's sports day.
Competitive team spirit was on show from the four participating nations - Australia, India, the US and Japan - who formed two multinational teams.
Crew from Royal Australian Navy's HMAS Stuart participated across both teams - a great way to integrate with partner nations outside of the maritime exercise environment.
With vibrant music boosting the energy, participants thrashed it out over rounds of soccer, basketball, volleyball, tug of war and even sack racing at the Indian Fleet sports ground.
Stuart marine technician Able Seaman Ryan Saavedra was thrilled with the opportunity to play sports ashore with the three other nations.
"Being involved in a variety of different sports was awesome," Able Seaman Saavedra said.
"The skill level was high and it was great to be on the same team with all these international players."
On day two, the team from Stuart took on the Indian Navy in a fierce T20 cricket comp, with Australian captain Lieutenant Alex Wharton stepping up to bat first.
"It was clear that the Indians sent their A-team to play us, which was not surprising given the love that India has for cricket," Lieutenant Wharton said.
"While we ended the match with 20 overs on 105 runs, the Indians certainly made a statement with some huge sixes and fours."
In the end, it was win-win for all involved, with strong bonds and friendship formed over the two days.
