The phrase 'teamwork makes the dream work' rang true at RAAF Base Amberley's Air Movements Section during Exercise Pitch Black 2024.
Members of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) and the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) teamed up to keep things running smoothly throughout July.
Staff Sergeant George Burt and his RFMF team seamlessly integrated into the Air Movements Section, using the opportunity to hone their skills.
"We have learned a lot about how the RAAF conduct their activities and are going to take this new-found information back home to consider how we can improve our own procedures," Staff Sergeant Burt said.
'RFMF and RAAF members working shoulder to shoulder provides the opportunity to enhance interoperability across international Defence Forces.'
During Pitch Black, RFMF's Corporal Levani Taka echoed the benefits of participating in the exercise and joining the multination team.
"We are really enjoying our time in Amberley amongst the Exercise Pitch Black 2024 activities," Corporal Taka said.
"We are keen to come back and immerse ourselves even more."
Duties completed by the team included pallet building and loading cargo onto aircraft.
RAAF Sergeant Christiaan Forrest said minor challenges like language barriers and differing qualifications between nations proved no match for the section.
"No additional training has been required to enable the RFMF members to execute required taskings. The joint team have demonstrated an ability to perform at a high standard after receiving standard pre-activity briefs," Sergeant Forrest said.
"RFMF and RAAF members working shoulder to shoulder provides the opportunity to enhance interoperability across international defence forces and a better understanding of how partnering nations operate."
