Tech Giants Log Into Future At Parramatta Town Hall

Four global technology giants will come together in Parramatta this week to showcase the City of Parramatta's technology transformation as it positions itself as a global City.

Representatives from Microsoft, Palo Alto, Lenovo and Juniper will join City of Parramatta and Parramatta-based tech company Cloud Context at Parramatta Town Hall to share how they helped the City expedite its technology overhaul, condensing it from an expected two to three year project into 12 months.

City of Parramatta chief executive officer Gail Connolly PSM said it's a coup for the City.

"To have the biggest and best global tech giants gathering in Paramatta to share lessons of how we've accelerated innovation will put us on the map as a leading example of what's possible in technology services," Ms Connolly said.

"We are a forward-thinking organisation and these tech companies are here to share how they helped the City of Parramatta bring Silicon Valley thinking and innovation to Western Sydney.

"The rapid implementation of new technology we've undergone is all part of laying the foundations to realise our bold 2050 vision."

"Global cities are economic powerhouses that host international business and if this is what we're doing now, just imagine where we will be in 25 years time."

Cloud Context has played an integral part in this successful collaboration between City of Parramatta and the major tech companies and will host the day.

Cloud Context director Elias Atie said the locally-based business is excited to showcase all the accomplishments achieved during this collaboration.

"As a locally based business in Parramatta, this collaboration holds special significance for us," Mr Atie said.

"Over the past year, we have witnessed clients undertake one or two projects of this magnitude, but the completion of five key projects by City of Parramatta is truly remarkable.

"We invite you to join us at the event to celebrate these milestones and explore the future of ICT in local government."

The transformation involved the rapid replacement of hardware, software upgrades, network enhancements, upgraded cyber security systems, meeting room technology, all driving enhanced productivity, improved efficiency and sustainability.

This is also a critical step in the City's effort to enhance the customer service experience for the community.

The event is being held between 9am and 3pm, Friday 11 October at Parramatta Town Hall.
