A teen has faced court following an investigation into an assault, intimidation and a stolen motorcycle in the state's north.
Officers attached to Oxley Police District have been conducting inquiries into an alleged stolen motorcycle from Manilla in September, an alleged assault at a home in Tamworth on Friday (20 October 2023), and the alleged intimidation of a woman and child at Tamworth on Sunday (22 October 2023).
On Monday (23 October 2023), police were attending a school on Gunnedah Road, Tamworth for unrelated matters when they spoke to a teenage boy outside.
The 15-year-old was arrested and taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with common assault, use carriage service to threaten to kill and, be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner.
The teen appeared at a children's court yesterday (Tuesday 24 October 2023), where he was granted conditional bail to appear at the same court on Tuesday 7 November 2023.
Operation Regional Mongoose is a high-visibility police operation to tackle serious property-related crime committed predominately by young offenders. Inquiries are continuing.
