Teen Charged After Kempsey Stolen Car Chase, Bail Breach

A teenage boy will appear before court today charged over alleged property, traffic and breach of bail offences on the Mid North Coast.

About 6.30pm yesterday (Sunday 9 February 2025), a Holden Captiva was allegedly stolen from Kempsey.

Police attached to Mid North Coast Police District were notified and commenced inquiries into the incident.

About 3.05am today (Monday 10 February 2025), officers sighted the vehicle on Macleay Valley Way, South Kempsey.

Road spikes were deployed; however, the vehicle continued into Kempsey where officers attempted to stop the vehicle.

When the driver allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated, continuing to West Kempsey where the driver attempted to flee on foot.

A 13-year-old boy was arrested a short time later and taken to Kempsey Police Station.

There he was charged with breach of bail, drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, and not stop vehicle when directed to do so.

He was refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Monday 10 February 2025).
