A teen will face court later this month after he was charged with discharging a firearm in Coonamble at the weekend.
About 6.20pm on Saturday (3 August 2024), police were called to a home on Tooloon Street, Coonamble, following reports a firearm was discharged into a fence.
Police were told a group of people attended a home in the street due to an ongoing dispute when a boy allegedly discharged the firearm.
Officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District attended and commenced an investigation into the circumstances into the incident.
No injuries were reported.
Following inquiries, about 9pm that evening, police attempted to stop a teen after he was sighted in a stationary vehicle on Aberford Street, Coonamble, when he saw police and fled on foot.
Police commenced a foot pursuit, and the teen was arrested a short time later and taken to Coonamble Police Station.
The 13-year-old boy was charged with fire firearm manner likely injure persons/property, and breach of bail.
He was given conditional bail to appear at a Children's court on Tuesday 20 August 2024.
Following further inquiries, about 3.20am on Sunday (4 August 2024), police attended a home on Wingadee Street, Coonamble, and searched the rear year.
Police located and seized a bag containing a modified bolt action rifle, a gel blaster, a replica glock, hunting knives and other items.
Inquiries are continuing.
