Teen Charged for Hunter Valley Break-In Attempts

A teenager has been charged following a number of alleged attempted break and enters at the Hunter Valley overnight.

Between 2am and 4am yesterday (Thursday 22 August 2024), police received multiple reports of alleged attempted break and enters and robbery incidents at properties at Pioneer Road, Casey Drive, Nelson Drive and Dominion Avenue, Hunterview.

Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District attended the addresses and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

Following inquiries, about 4am, police located five people near the intersection of Bridgeman Road and Blaxland Avenue, Singleton.

When officers approached the group, they allegedly attempted to run from the scene.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested and taken to Singleton Police Station.

He was charged with:

  • Enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence – two counts;
  • Aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence – people there;
  • Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner;
  • Commit s 154A offence & disseminate;
  • Steal property in dwelling-house

He was also charged with two outstanding warrants in relation to the offence of break and enter house and robbery in company.

He was refused bail to appear before a Children's Court today (Friday 23 August 2024).
