A teen has been charged over alleged property and driving offences after an incident on the Central Coast early this morning.
About 1.10am (Wednesday 18 December 2024), police were called to a home at Bluehaven following reports of a break in.
At the scene, police were told that keys and a vehicle had been stolen from the property.
Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District commenced inquiries into the incident.
Police sighted the vehicle on the Pacific Highway at Charmhaven a short time later; however, no pursuit was initiated due to the manner of driving.
Upon nearing the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Goorama Avenue, San Remo, the vehicle hit a traffic light pole.
The driver allegedly dropped a knife as he ran from the scene of the crash; however, was located nearby following a search.
The 17-year-old was arrested and taken to Wyong Police Station where a breath analysis returned an alleged reading of 0.059.
Police will allege the youth was also in possession of stolen cash and bank cards.
He has been charged with two counts of goods in personal custody suspected being stolen, aggravated enter dwelling with intent - armed, take and drive conveyance without consent of owner, negligent driving, carry cutting weapon upon apprehension, never licensed person drive vehicle on road, and drive with low range PCA.
He appeared before a children's court today (Wednesday 18 December 2024), where he was formally refused bail to appear before the same court on Friday 10 January 2025.
