A teenage boy has faced court charged over an alleged stolen vehicle and police pursuit in Dubbo yesterday.
Police from Orana Mid-Western Police District attached to Operation Soteria responded to reports a white Mazda CX5 was stolen from a property on Regand Park Boulevard, Dubbo between 8.30pm on Wednesday 19 March and 1.50am on Thursday 20 March 2025.
About 1.50am (Thursday 20 March 2025), police sighted the vehicle travelling on Myall Street, Dubbo and attempted to stop it.
When it allegedly failed to stop as directed, a pursuit was initiated with speeds allegedly reaching 175km/h.
The vehicle continued along Twickenham Drive towards St Georges Crescent before travelling towards Whitewood Road.
Police will allege the driver rammed the side of a police car before the pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns.
The vehicle continued onto Myall Street where it has crashed into a curb before the driver fled the scene on foot.
Police set up a perimeter and located a 16-year-old in a nearby cemetery.
He was arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station and charged with police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously, drive conveyance without consent of owner, never licensed person drive vehicle on road and use offensive weapon to prevent lawful detention.
He was refused bail and appeared before a children's court yesterday (Thursday 20 March 2025).
Investigations under Operation Soteria continue.
