Teen Charged in Inverell Break-Ins Spree

A teenager will appear before court today after being charged with allegedly stealing cars and breaking into homes across the Inverell area earlier this week.

Between Sunday 17 November 2024 and Tuesday 19 November 2024, police received multiple reports of break and enters and cars thefts in Inverell and Tingha.

About 1.50pm yesterday (Tuesday 19 November 2024), officers attached to New England Police District executed a search warrant at a home on Hospital Flat Road, Tingha.

During the search, officers located and seized multiple allegedly stolen car keys, power tools, watches and electronic devices, as well as a replica firearm.

Following the search, police arrested a 17-year-old boy before taking him to Inverell Police Station.

He was charged with:

  • four counts of aggravated break and enter and commit serious indictable offence;
  • three counts of enter building/land with intent to commit indictable offence;
  • two counts of take and drive conveyance without consent of owner;
  • be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner;
  • break and enter houses steal value less than $60,000;
  • taking a conveyance without consent of owner;

The teen was refused bail and appeared before Children's Court today (Wednesday 20 November 2024), where he was further refused bail to reappear on Thursday 16 January 2025.
