Teen Charged in Orange for Attempted Armed Robbery

A teenage boy has been charged following an alleged armed robbery in the state's west.

Police were told a 31-year-old man was working as a food delivery driver about 12:30am on Monday (16 November 2024), when he was allegedly threatened with a knife.

The man was delivering an order to Torpy Street, Orange, when a boy allegedly attempted to steal a car but was unsuccessful. He has then allegedly thrown the knife at the vehicle where it has pierced the plastic of the front bumper bar.

The 31-year-old man drove to Orange Police Station and reported the incident to police.

Following inquiries, a 16-year-old boy was issued with a Future Court Attendance Notice for the charge of assault with intent to rob armed with offensive weapon. He will appear before a children's court on Monday 6 January 2025.
