Teen Charged in Tamworth Car Theft Operation

A teenager will appear before court today after being charged with allegedly stealing a car at Tamworth last week.

About 8.20am on Friday 15November 2024, police were called to an address in Fishermans Place, Oxley Vale, following reports a car had allegedly been stolen.

Officers attached to Oxley Police District attended and were told a Subaru hatchback had allegedly been taken from the property overnight.

Following inquiries, police arrested a 15-year-old boy on Phillip Street, Tamworth, at about 2.30pm yesterday (Tuesday 19 November 2024).

During the arrest, officers located and seized the allegedly stolen car.

The teenager was taken to Tamworth Police Station where he was charged with two counts of drive conveyance taken without consent of owner, steal motor vehicle, dishonestly obtain property by deception and breach of bail.

The 15-year-old was refused bail to appear before a Children's Court today (Wednesday 20 November 2024).
