Teen Charged in Tuncurry Break-In: Operation Soteria

A teenage girl has been charged over a break and enter offences in the state's north.

Just after 2.20am yesterday (Friday 4 April 2025), police were called to a home on Wharf Street, Tuncurry, following reports of an alleged break and enter.

On arrival, officers attached to Manning/Great Lakes Police District spoke to a 58-year-old woman before they located face masks and a knife, and seized them for a forensic examination.

Police were told a person – with a knife – forced entry into the home before leaving the scene with a number of items including car keys and an electronic device.

The woman was not injured.

A crime scene was established and police commenced an investigation into the incident.

Following inquiries, about 4pm on the same day, police arrested a 15-year-old girl in Forster area.

She was taken to Forster Police Station where she was charged with aggravated break and enter commit serious indictable offence-armed.

She was refused bail to appear at children's court today (Saturday 5 April 2025).

Investigations under Operation Soteria continue.
