Teen Charged With Knife, Intimidation in Bourke

A teenage boy will appear in court today after being charged following an alleged incident at a school and a fire in the state's Far West.

Officers attached to Central North Police District were called to a high school at Bourke about 11am yesterday (Monday 25 November 2024) and were told a student had allegedly threatened another boy with a knife. There were no injuries from the incident.

About 11:35am, police were called to Richard Street, Bourke, following reports of a fire.

The blaze was extinguished; however, the property was extensively damaged.

Police established a crime scene and commenced investigations into both incidents, with a 13-year-old boy arrested and taken to Bourke Police Station.

He has now been charged with five offences,

  • Use knife in school-causing person to fear for safety
  • Armed with intent commit indictable offence
  • Custody of knife in school
  • Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm, and
  • Damage property by fire/explosion.

He has been refused bail to appear before a children's court today (Tuesday 26 November 2024).
