Teen Charged With Multiple Offenses in Wagga Wagga

A 17-year-old boy will face Court after being charged with a string of property offences and outstanding warrants in the Wagga Wagga area.

About 10.30am this morning (Tuesday 1 April 2025), officers from the Riverina Police District Proactive Crime Team attempted to stop a vehicle in Ashmont.

After police attempted to stop the car, the front seat passenger exited the vehicle and jumped over several fences while officers chased him on foot.

Police arrested the boy after he entered a house on Connorton Avenue at Ashmont.

He was taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station where he was charged with 15 offences by way of warrants;

  • Drive conveyance taken without consent of owner (four counts),
  • Unlicensed driver (four counts),
  • Police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously,
  • Drive manner dangerous,
  • Aggravated break and enter steal in company (two counts),
  • Enter building with intent to commit an indictable offence,
  • Enter vehicle without consent of owner,
  • Commit Section 114 offence having been previously convicted.

The boy was refused bail to appear in a children's court tomorrow (Wednesday 2 April 2025).

Investigations under Operation Southern Mongoose continue, which was formed to target young offenders who commit break and enter offences and steal motor vehicles.
