A teenager will face court today charged following a pursuit in Darlinghurst.
About 4pm yesterday (Friday 26 January 2024), police attempted to stop a Toyota C-HR on Syd Einfeld Drive, Bondi Junction after it was detected speeding.
The car failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated, but terminated soon after due to safety concerns.
A short time later, police were called to Darlinghurst Road, Darlinghurst, where they located the Toyota which had allegedly collided with three other vehicles.
The occupants fled the scene before the arrival of police; however, the driver – a 17-year-old boy – was arrested on Oxford Street a short time later.
He was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was charged with 11 offences,
- police pursuit – not stop – drive dangerously,
- negligent driving,
- drive, licence suspended under s 66 fines Act,
- P1 driver exceed speed more than 10km/h – Lidar,
- not stop at stop line at red light,
- not give sufficient right change of direction signal,
- not obey direction of police/authorised person,
- two counts of not give particulars to other driver,
- custody of knife in public place,
- and possess means of disguising face with intention to commit indictable offence.
He was refused bail to appear at a children's court in Parramatta today (Saturday 27 January 2024).
